Jordan Colbert Takes the Helm of Plymouth Co‑Op Girls Hockey

A local legend returns to lead the team with a focus on heart, dedication, and determination

Jordan Colbert has been appointed head coach of the Plymouth co‑op high school girls hockey team, succeeding Mike McCosh, who now guides the Plymouth North boys program. She will be assisted by Kayla Donovan, a former teammate and close friend.

A Family Affair

The Colbert family is a cornerstone of Plymouth hockey; siblings Shannon Colbert, Joey Colbert, Tommy Colbert, Chris Colbert and Sean Colbert have all played or coached at various levels, while their father John Lauziere also contributes to the sport's rich local heritage.

Colbert’s own playing résumé is extensive. At Plymouth South she starred in hockey, field hockey and lacrosse before moving on to a five‑year stint with the University of South Maine, where she captained the team for three seasons. After graduation she remained with the Huskies program as an assistant coach for a year and later coached a U19 club team while living in Maine.

One of Colbert’s most treasured memories is watching her sister Shannon take the ice for the first Plymouth North/Plymouth South girls team, a moment that encapsulates the family’s deep connection to the game.

Heart, Dedication, Determination

Colbert says she wants every player under her guidance to live by the mantra "heart, dedication, and determination," a phrase she believes captures the essence of Plymouth hockey and will shape the team’s culture.

Beyond the rink, Colbert works as a kindergarten teacher at South Elementary School, balancing her educational responsibilities with her commitment to developing the next generation of hockey talent.

Looking Forward

With the support of her family, her former teammate Donovan, and the broader Plymouth community, Colbert is poised to build a program that reflects the region’s storied hockey tradition while fostering growth and resilience in each athlete.
