Kraken captain Jordan Eberle and wife Lauren commit $700,000 to Calgary learning centre
Jordan Eberle, captain of the Seattle Kraken, and his wife Lauren have pledged $700,000 to construct an outdoor early‑learning centre in Calgary, the city where they built their family life.
The contribution comes from the couple’s Sticks & Strings Foundation, an organization that channels support toward Canadian charities in areas such as sport, music, reading, outdoor activity and parenting.
From Regina to the Battle of Alberta
Eberle’s roots trace back to Regina, Saskatchewan, where he first laced up skates for the WHL’s Regina Pats. He later moved to Calgary for high school, met Lauren there, and exchanged vows before embarking on a seven‑year tenure with the Edmonton Oilers, a period that forged a deep connection to Alberta’s hockey culture.
Now playing for the Kraken, Eberle reflects on how parenthood has reshaped his outlook on the game, noting that his children have given him a fresh perspective and, he believes, have made him a better player on the ice.
The new learning centre will join a growing list of community projects championed by the Sticks & Strings Foundation, which continues to leverage sport and the arts to empower families across Canada.
