The Idaho Steelheads announced this week that forward Jordan Steinmetz has agreed to a contract for the 2026‑27 season, securing the 27‑year‑old for another run with the franchise and reinforcing the team’s affiliation with the Dallas Stars in the ECHL.
A Familiar Face Returns
Steinmetz, who began the 2025‑26 campaign with the Steelheads, will enter his third professional season and his second full year in the league, bringing a blend of size, skill and leadership to a roster that aims to contend for the playoff picture.
During his first stint in Idaho he recorded 15 points — six goals and nine assists — across 57 games, contributing to the team’s offensive depth and providing a reliable secondary scorer.
European Triumph and Championship Experience
After the ECHL season, Steinmetz headed to the Central European Hockey League, where he helped Snackpoint Eaters Limburg capture the league title with 42 points — 25 goals and 17 assists — in the 2024‑25 campaign, showcasing his ability to perform at a high level on an international stage.
His European stint follows a five‑year collegiate career that began at St. Lawrence University, where he amassed 35 points in 122 games and served as team captain during his senior season, highlighting his leadership qualities and offensive versatility.
The next chapter saw him spend the 2023‑24 year at Minnesota State University, posting 11 points in 32 games while acting as an alternate captain, before returning to the professional ranks with renewed focus and experience.
With a track record that includes a league championship, multiple point‑producing seasons and leadership roles at both the collegiate and professional levels, Steinmetz is poised to be a key contributor for the Steelheads as they aim for a deep playoff push in the upcoming season.
