A Strategic Addition
The Idaho Steelheads announced this week that forward Jordan Steinmetz has inked an ECHL contract for the 2026‑27 season, marking his third professional campaign with the club.
At 27, Steinmetz arrives after a stint in the Central European Hockey League where he helped Snackpoint Eaters Limburg capture a league championship, adding a European title to his résumé.
His North American journey began with the Steelheads themselves, where he posted 15 points in 57 games and earned the franchise’s Hustle Award in his rookie ECHL year.
His collegiate years were split between Minnesota State University and St. Lawrence University, the latter culminating in a senior season in which he served as team captain, showcasing leadership both on and off the ice.
General manager Everett Sheen praised the signing, noting Steinmetz’s blend of skill, work ethic, and familiarity with the organization. “We’re excited to welcome Jordan back and believe his experience will help push the team toward a deeper playoff run,” Sheen said.
