The South Conway County School District announced this week that Jordan Weaver has been appointed head coach of the Morrilton Junior High boys’ basketball team, a move that follows a thorough vetting process and strong endorsements from across the program.
Weaver, a native of Wynne, arrives with a résumé that includes stints as a junior high head coach at Jonesboro and a previous head‑coaching role at his hometown high school, giving him a deep well of experience that the district found compelling.
A Coach Rooted in the Community
Beyond his coaching credentials, Weaver’s local roots and the confidence placed in him by veteran staff, including Coach Keith Zackery and Coach Tipton, were cited as key factors in the district’s decision.
In addition to leading the junior high squad, Weaver will also serve as an assistant under Coach Keith Zackery for the senior high boys’ program, a dual responsibility that the district believes will create continuity and a unified developmental pathway for its young athletes.
Weaver replaces Josh Byers, who stepped down from the junior high position to accept the head girls’ coaching role at Wonderview High School, marking the latest shift in a coaching staff that has seen several recent transitions.
