Alabama State University’s right‑hander Jorhan Laboy has been summoned to the United States Collegiate National Team training camp, a prestigious platform that showcases the nation’s top amateur talent.
A Milestone Invitation
Laboy is slated to pitch in the camp’s opening game on Saturday, July 4, a date that aligns with the nation’s Independence Day celebrations and adds a patriotic flair to his debut.
The invitation follows a breakout season in which Laboy helped the Bulldogs capture the 2026 SWAC Tournament title and secure an automatic berth to the NCAA Tournament, marking a historic achievement for the program.
Season Highlights
During the campaign, Laboy compiled a 9‑2 record with a 4.25 earned run average, striking out 67 batters while limiting opponents to a .246 batting average. Those numbers placed him second in the SWAC for wins, seventh in ERA and strikeouts, and tenth in opposing batting average.
His performance earned him two SWAC Pitcher of the Week accolades, underscoring his consistency and impact on the mound.
Beyond personal statistics, Laboy’s leadership was pivotal in guiding Alabama State through a demanding schedule, culminating in a conference championship that elevated the university’s profile on the national stage.
Looking Ahead
As the nation prepares to celebrate Independence Day, all eyes will be on Laboy as he takes the field for the first time in a USA Collegiate uniform. The experience is expected to sharpen his skills and broaden his horizons as he aims to contribute to future national teams.
