Josh Bailey, a longtime staple of the New York Islanders, will be honored this summer as he joins the New York State Hockey Hall of Fame.
Drafted ninth overall in the 2008 NHL Draft, Bailey spent 1,057 games with the Islanders, recording 184 goals and 396 assists, which places him fourth in franchise history for assists and seventh in total points.
His impact was most evident in the playoffs, where he contributed 16 goals and 34 assists for 50 points across 71 games, helping the team reach two third‑round appearances and scoring memorable overtime winners, including the iconic Game 1 goal that sparked the 2019 return to Nassau Coliseum.
After retiring from playing, Bailey moved to the broadcast booth, where he now works alongside former teammate Alan Fuehring, bringing his on‑ice experience to Islanders telecasts.
The 2026 Induction Ceremony
The ceremony is scheduled for July 12, 2026 at the Hilton Garden Inn in Troy, New York, where Bailey will be joined by legends such as John Tonelli, Ken Morrow, Denis Potvin, Ed Westfall, and Hall of Fame journalist Stan Fischler.
Bailey’s induction marks the fifth Islanders player to be celebrated by the Hall, underscoring a career that bridged dominant play on the ice with a growing presence in the commentary arena.
