Josh Nebo Signs with FC Barcelona Basketball Through 2029

The Slovenian‑naturalized center brings EuroLeague pedigree and a championship mindset to the Catalan club

Josh Nebo, a 2.06‑meter center who holds both United States and Slovenian citizenship, has agreed to a contract with FC Barcelona basketball that runs until 2029. The club announced the signing on Tuesday, highlighting the player’s blend of size, skill and experience.

A Proven Winner

Nebo’s basketball journey began in the United States before he honed his craft in Europe, where he played for Zalgiris in Kaunas, Maccabi Tel Aviv in Eilat and Olimpia Milano in Milan. Each stop added layers of competitiveness and exposure to high‑stakes basketball, culminating in a EuroLeague appearance that showcased his ability to dominate the paint.

Across 136 EuroLeague games he averaged 9.3 points and 6.3 rebounds, and in the 2023/24 season he led the competition in rebounds per game. His trophy cabinet includes two Israeli league titles with Maccabi Tel Aviv, an Italian league championship and a Super Cup win with Milano, as well as a Lithuanian Cup triumph with Zalgiris.

Speaking about the move, Nebo said he is excited to join Barça and wants to fight for titles in both the ACB and the EuroLeague. “I’m looking forward to contributing to the club’s rich history and to bring my best to the fans,” he added.

The club’s sporting director praised the signing, noting that Nebo’s experience and work ethic fit the team’s ambition to return to the top of European basketball. His presence is expected to strengthen the frontcourt and provide depth as the side pursues multiple championships over the next five years.
