JP Hurlbert, a 2026 NHL Entry Draft selection of the Detroit Red Wings, is spending the summer in Michigan as he readies for the upcoming World Junior Summer Showcase and his new role in the NCAA.
The draft placed Hurlbert among three Red Wings prospects invited to the showcase, underscoring the organization’s confidence in his potential and marking a pivotal moment in his career.
Training Camp and Showcase Schedule
From July 22 to 24, he will attend Team USA’s training camp at the Belfor Training Center, then travel to Windsor, Ontario, where the showcase runs from July 26 through August 1 at the WFCU Centre.
Following the showcase, Hurlbert will join the University of Michigan’s Wolverines in Ann Arbor, where he will be coached by Brandon Naurato, a former NHL player turned collegiate mentor.
Hurlbert concluded his WHL tenure with the Kamloops Blazers by scoring 42 goals last season, a performance that helped secure his draft status and now fuels his preparation for the next chapter.
