Angel City FC announced that midfielder Jun Endō will miss the remainder of the NWSL season after tearing her anterior cruciate ligament in a July 11 match against the San Diego Wave.
A significant blow to the squad
The injury occurred in the 36th minute when Endō was forced off the pitch, a moment that underscored the abruptness of the setback. The club subsequently placed her on the league’s Season‑Ending Injury List, a designation that ends her campaign for the current year.
In a statement, ACFC Director of Medical Hollie Walusz emphasized the organization’s commitment to supporting Endō throughout her recovery, highlighting the club’s focus on player welfare and long‑term health.
Endō joined Angel City in 2022 and has since made 44 starts across 58 regular‑season appearances, contributing four goals and six assists. Her presence has been a steady component of the team’s midfield, blending technical skill with tactical awareness.
The ACL tear marks the second such injury for the Japanese international; the first rupture happened during preseason training in February 2024. Despite the setbacks, she remains under contract with the club through the 2027 season.
Internationally, Endō has earned 42 caps for Japan’s women’s national team and scored five goals, a testament to her standing on the global stage.
