Juneau’s Start Smart Soccer Program Begins Registration for Young Players

Children aged 3‑4 can now sign up for summer sessions downtown and in the Valley, with limited spots and scholarships available

Program Details

The Zach Gordon Youth Center is opening registration on June 1 for its Start Smart Soccer program, a beginner‑level course designed for children aged three to four who are eager to explore the fundamentals of the game.

Two separate sessions will run this summer: one meets downtown on Thursdays at the Juneau‑Douglas High School turf, stretching from July 2 through August 13, while the other convenes on Tuesdays in the Valley at either Thunder Mountain Middle School’s turf field or the Adair Kennedy Fields, running from July 7 to August 11.

Each session carries a fee of $45 plus tax, and the center notes that scholarships are available for families who need financial assistance. Because space is limited, officials are urging parents to register early to secure a spot for their child.

The program’s focus on basic skills and fun makes it an ideal introduction to soccer for preschool‑age children, and the center’s long‑standing commitment to community youth sports shines through its scholarship outreach and accessible locations.
