The Justin-Siena football program endured its most challenging season in recent memory, finishing 0-10 and slipping to seventh place in the REC-Valley, a result that kept the team out of the playoffs.
Entering the offseason, the school appointed Jimmy Cerf, a coach with more than a decade of experience at the high school and collegiate levels, to lead a rebuilding effort that seeks to recapture the program’s storied past, including multiple NorCal Section championships.
A Revamped Roster
Cerf will rely on a core group of 16 seniors, among them senior quarterback Bryden Landry, senior linebacker Augustine Heun, and versatile linemen Jordan Sagehorn, Evan Lewis, Charlie Rohrs, Blaine Fletcher and Boden Powell, who together bring a blend of experience and athleticism.
The returning seniors will be joined by promising underclassmen such as juniors Emmet Putnam, Matteo Bettinelli, Ansel Emana and John Rampa, as well as newcomers like Webber Epperson and Matteo Bettinelli, adding depth at skill positions.
The schedule now pits Justin-Siena against a tougher slate in the REC-Mountain Division, with opening games against Kelseyville, Alhambra, St. Mary's-Albany and Sonoma Valley, while the coach emphasizes energy and competitiveness as the team’s guiding principles.
Cerf expressed confidence that the combination of seasoned seniors and motivated newcomers will allow the team to be “the best show in Napa on Aug. 28,” a reference to the season-opening matchup that could set the tone for a hopeful campaign.
