Gonzaga University announced this week that Juwan Ekanga-Ehawa, a 6‑6 guard from France, will join the Bulldogs for the 2026‑27 campaign, adding a new international dimension to the program.
Ekanga-Ehawa arrives after a standout season with JL Bourg’s U‑21 side, where he averaged 19.1 points, 5.5 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 2.1 steals per game, shooting 52 percent from the field and 30.6 percent from three‑point range.
His professional exposure also includes stints with the senior roster of JL Bourg and a season in France’s second division with Chorale Roanne, experiences that have sharpened his versatility and competitive edge.
International pedigree
The guard’s résumé extends to the international stage, where he helped France secure a silver medal at the U‑17 European Youth Olympic Festival in Skopje, North Macedonia, and earned recognition as the Most Improved Player in the Espoirs ELITE league.
Coaches at Gonzaga see his arrival as a boost for depth and perimeter defense, noting that his blend of size, shooting efficiency and playmaking could elevate the team’s tactical options.
Looking ahead
The Bulldogs’ roster will now feature a player who has already tasted high‑level competition abroad, a factor that could prove decisive as the program aims to contend for national honors in the coming season.
