Tournament Opens at Lucas Ballpark
The 75th K-18 State Baseball Tournament opened this week at Lucas Ballpark, bringing together teams from across the region for a series of high-stakes matchups that showcase the best of summer baseball.
Semifinals Deliver Drama
In the opening round, Ellis Black defeated Smith Center 12-0, Osborne edged Atwood 4-3, Goodland routed Beloit 8-0, and Waterville slipped past Hoxie 3-1, advancing four teams to the next stage.
Championship and Third-Place Games
The semifinals saw Osborne rally past Ellis Black with a 14-11 victory, and Goodland dominate Waterville 16-8, setting up a championship clash between the two remaining contenders.
The third-place game between Ellis and Waterville is scheduled for 3 p.m. on Wednesday, July 29, while the championship showdown between Goodland and Osborne will follow at 5:30 p.m., also on July 29.
Organizers have promised a festive atmosphere, with concessions, live music and family activities planned throughout the tournament’s final day, underscoring the event’s deep roots in the community.
