Academic All-District Honors
The College Sports Communicators have announced their latest Academic All-District selections, and this year five members of the Kansas State University baseball roster earned the distinction. The honorees — Grant Gallagher, Cadyn Karl, Tazwell Butler, James Guyette and Lincoln Sheffield — were recognized for maintaining strong academic records while contributing significantly to the team’s on‑field success.
Spotlight on the Scholars
Tazwell Butler, a criminology major, graduated with a 3.64 GPA and logged 58 strikeouts over 55 innings, underscoring his dual commitment to scholarship and sport. Grant Gallagher, a finance graduate, finished with a 3.67 GPA and posted a .267 batting average paired with a .399 on‑base percentage, illustrating his well‑rounded performance.
James Guyette capped his junior season with a 6‑4 record and 105 strikeouts, setting a new single‑season mark for the junior class, while Cadyn Karl balanced a 3.50 undergraduate GPA in finance with a 3.66 GPA in the university’s MBA program. Lincoln Sheffield, who earned a 3.72 GPA in management, closed his career with 15 victories, rounding out a group that exemplifies the Wildcats’ emphasis on holistic development.
A Program on the Rise
Beyond individual accolades, the team also marked its fourth consecutive 30‑win season, a streak that ties the longest run in program history and reflects sustained competitiveness. K‑State finished the 2026 campaign with a 30‑27 overall record and an 11‑19 mark in Big 12 play, a testament to the program’s resilience despite a challenging conference schedule.
