Colleen Corbin’s first year at the helm of K‑State soccer has been nothing short of historic. The Wildcats finished the 2025 campaign with a 7‑6‑5 slate, marking the program’s inaugural winning record and triggering a cascade of milestones that saw 49 long‑standing school records fall.
Central to that transformation were the players who returned for another cycle. A striking 57 % of the team’s goals and 64 % of its assists came back from the previous season, giving the squad a continuity that proved invaluable during an extended preseason camp that stretched beyond the usual two weeks.
The extended camp allowed Corbin and her staff to drill deeper into tactical principles and culture, fostering a fitness level and consistency that were evident from the opening whistle. A leadership council of eight players, including forward Maddie Sibbing, was instituted to provide peer mentorship and to give the coaching staff a direct line to the team’s pulse.
Sibbing’s ascent to the council was matched by the emergence of Allison Marshall, whose performances earned her recognition as one of the conference’s most reliable attackers. The Wildcats open the 11th season on August 13 against Seattle University in Honolulu, Hawaii, a match that will be staged against the backdrop of the World Cup’s growing buzz. That excitement has already translated into higher attendance for K‑State’s Soccer 101 classes, signaling a broader surge in interest.
