Kaden Kress, a senior second baseman from Kaukauna, has been named Wisconsin High School Baseball Player of the Year, capping a season that saw his team capture the state title and finish with a 24‑7 record.
A championship that broke a long‑standing drought
The victory not only delivered Kaukauna its first championship in 73 years but also underscored the program’s rapid rise, turning a long‑awaited dream into reality for the community.
In the championship game, Kress went 3‑for‑3 and drove in three runs, delivering the clutch performance that sealed the win.
The fan‑voted poll, which highlighted the achievements of 16 standout players, awarded Kress 52 % of the ballots, edging out Verona pitcher Landon Lassahn, who collected 32 % of the vote.
Other finalists included Hudson shortstop Jace Mataczynski, Kewaunee pitcher Brett Paulsen and Kenosha St. Joseph utility player Dominic Santarelli, each earning 2 % of the tally.
Recognition backed by baseball’s governing voices
The all‑state selections were compiled with input from the Wisconsin Baseball Coaches Association, ensuring that the recognition reflects both on‑field performance and broader contributions to the sport.
With the high school season in the books, Kress is expected to attract attention from college programs and summer league opportunities, as analysts predict his impact will continue to grow.
