Kaiden James, a 3‑star recruit out of Callaway High School in Alabama, has officially pledged to continue his football career at Troy University, signaling the next step in a promising athletic journey.
A Versatile Prospect
The two‑way standout is capable of lining up as a wide receiver or a defensive back, offering a rare blend of size, speed and playmaking instincts that attracted the attention of several Power Five programs.
Standing 6‑foot‑2 and built with the athleticism to outmaneuver most defensive backs, James posted 20 catches for 283 yards and two touchdowns during the 2025 season, numbers that helped him secure offers from Auburn University and the University of Louisville.
Robert Paxia, Callaway’s offensive coordinator, has said the program intends to maximize James’ production by weaving his talents into both the passing attack and the secondary, ensuring he remains a focal point on each side of the ball.
Troy’s Recent Momentum
Located just over two hours from Callaway, Troy University capped its 2025‑26 campaign as the Sun Belt Conference runner‑up, a milestone that adds context to the excitement surrounding James’ commitment.
Beyond the gridiron, James also shines on the basketball court, underscoring a rare combination of athletic gifts that could translate into a multi‑sport prospect for the university.
He is expected to be a leader for both the offense and defense in his final high school season, and the Cavaliers will open preseason with a scrimmage against Troup on Aug. 7, giving fans an early glimpse of what’s to come.
