The Kalamazoo Wings joined forces with NHL Street to host a "Game On" Camp at Upjohn Park, inviting members of the KZoo Parks Summer Camp to experience hockey without any cost. The event focused on teaching the fundamentals of the sport while encouraging participants to explore different positions on the ice.
DeForest Lonberg, a camp attendee, highlighted the unique opportunity to try various roles within the game, while Devin Moon described the experience as both rare and enjoyable. Nyelle Conner expressed her excitement, noting that the camp could be the first step toward a lifelong passion for hockey and possibly a professional career.
K‑Wings head coach Joel Martin used the occasion to point out the financial hurdles that often keep youngsters out of the sport, citing expenses related to ice time and equipment. By offering free participation, the camp aims to remove those barriers and make hockey more accessible to the community.
