Groundbreaking Ceremony Signals New Educational Investment
Kaleva Norman Dickson Schools officially broke ground on August 10, 2026, on its Brethren campus, launching a $9.5 million initiative that will add a dedicated early‑childhood development center and a new baseball field to the district’s facilities.
The project is financed through a 10‑year bond that carries no tax increase for local property owners, allowing the district to expand educational and recreational offerings without burdening taxpayers.
Construction is set to begin immediately, with the early‑childhood center projected to open in the summer of 2027 and the baseball field ready for competition in spring 2028, giving the new turf time to establish before regular games commence.
Beyond the core facilities, the bond funds a suite of site improvements including enhanced security measures, upgraded technology infrastructure, new track surfaces, playground equipment, and interior renovations across the campus.
Professional Partners and Oversight
Triangle Associates Inc., a Grand Rapids‑based contractor with a Traverse City office, has been selected as the general contractor, while Spicer Group will provide engineering services to ensure the designs meet rigorous safety and performance standards.
Superintendent Jake Veith expressed deep gratitude to the community, supporters, and board members whose vision and persistent efforts made the project possible, emphasizing the district’s commitment to enriching student experiences.
