Kansas baseball has etched a new chapter into the university's storied athletics history, capturing its first Big 12 championship and securing the No. 14 national ranking in the process.
The Jayhawks will open the 2026 Big 12 Baseball Tournament on May 21 at Surprise Stadium in Surprise, Arizona, entering as the top seed after a dominant conference run.
A Historic Seed
Their path begins with a potential matchup against either Baylor, BYU or Texas Tech, the three teams that could emerge from the opening round of play.
Kansas earned the No. 1 seed after winning the league title outright on Friday at BYU, a feat that also granted the program a double bye and an automatic spot in the quarterfinals.
The tournament, being held for the first time at Surprise Stadium, will follow a single‑elimination format and officially begins on May 19 with BYU facing Texas Tech and Utah taking on Kansas State.
