On a bright June afternoon in Lawrence, the Kansas University baseball squad gathered at Hoglund Ballpark for an open practice that drew a modest crowd of fans and local media.
Head coach Dan Fitzgerald paced the sidelines, his voice carrying over the crack of bats as he guided Tyson Owens, Max Soliz Jr, Josh Dykhoff, Dariel Osoria, Dylan Schlotterback and several other teammates through a series of drills, warm‑ups and situational scrimmages.
A Day of Drills and Determination
The same field also hosted the Oklahoma baseball team, whose players arrived early and joined the session, creating a subtle rivalry atmosphere as both squads prepared for the upcoming Lawrence Super Regional.
