Postseason Honors for Kansas Baseball Stars
The Kansas Jayhawks concluded a remarkable campaign that delivered three championships and a franchise‑record 45 victories, and the accolades kept coming as three of their standouts were celebrated on a national stage.
Tyson LeBlanc, the power‑hitting corner infielder, amassed a suite of All‑American recognitions — First Team from Perfect Game, Second Team from the NCBWA, and Third Team from the ABCA/Rawlings poll — while shattering the school’s single‑season home‑run record with 25.
LeBlanc’s impact extended beyond the long ball; he finished the year batting .341 with 87 hits, 69 RBIs and 38 walks, positioning him seventh nationally in total bases and tied for eighth in home runs. His May performance earned him the NCBWA National Hitter of the Month award and a co‑player of the year nod in District 6.
Catch‑er Augusto Mungarrieta started 55 of 63 games and posted a .292 average with a .584 slugging percentage, adding 17 homers and 50 RBIs. He capped the season by leading the team with a .462/.500/1.000 performance in the Big 12 Tournament, earning a spot on the all‑tournament team.
Reliever Boede Rahe anchored the bullpen with 11 saves and a 4.27 ERA across 59 innings, striking out 80 batters while walking only 21. His 11 saves topped the Big 12 and ranked among the nation’s best, tying him for sixth in Kansas history.
The trio’s honors extended to regional recognition, making them the 28th, 29th and 30th ABCA All‑Region selections in program history. Their contributions helped the Jayhawks capture the Big 12 regular‑season title, the conference tournament crown and the Lawrence Regional championship.
Beyond individual awards, the team’s 45‑18 record ties the all‑time single‑season win mark, a testament to the depth and resilience cultivated by the coaching staff and supported by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association and the American Baseball Coaches Association, both of which have long chronicled the Jayhawks’ rise.
