A Season of Firsts
The 2026 campaign will be remembered as one of the most dominant in recent Kansas baseball history. Under head coach Dan Fitzgerald, the Jayhawks posted a string of marquee victories that culminated in a sweep of the Big 12 regular‑season and tournament titles.
Their momentum carried into the NCAA tournament, where they captured the Lawrence Regional championship and earned a nod from Perfect Game, which named Fitzgerald the national coach of the year.
Draft Combine Awaits
The next step for the club’s top talent is the MLB draft combine, scheduled for June 23‑25 in Phoenix, where scouts will get an up‑close look at the prospects.
Three juniors — Brady Ballinger, Tyson LeBlanc and Dominic Voegele — have been selected to attend the event, underscoring the program’s pipeline of major‑league‑ready players.
Player Spotlights
Ballinger, an infielder/outfielder, batted .283 this season, smashing seven home runs and driving in 45 runs. His defensive versatility earned him a spot on the All‑Big 12 honorable‑mention team and a place on the Lawrence Regional all‑tournament squad.
LeBlanc matched Ballinger’s impact with a .341 average, 25 homers and 69 RBIs. The utility player was crowned most outstanding player of both the Big 12 tournament and the Lawrence Regional, highlighting his clutch performances.
On the mound, Voegele posted a 5.85 ERA over 17 starts, compiling a 6‑4 record with 120 strikeouts against just 35 walks in 97 innings. His consistency secured him a spot on the Big 12 and Regional all‑tournament teams.
