Regional Championships Begin This Week
The penultimate week of Kansas high school baseball arrives with a slate of regional contests that will determine which teams advance to the state tournament. Across Shawnee County, host schools are opening their fields for a series of decisive games.
Class 6A’s West Regional opens with Washburn Rural hosting the No. 2 seed on Tuesday, May 19, while Lawrence Free State welcomes the No. 3 seed on Monday, May 18. In the 5A division, Lansing will stage the East Regional’s No. 4 matchup on Wednesday, May 20, and Salina Central will serve as the venue for the West Regional’s top seed on the same day.
The 4A bracket sees Hayden hosting the East Regional’s No. 4 team on Tuesday, May 19, while Sabetha takes on the 3A Regional’s No. 2 position at its own field. Meanwhile, Rossville will host the 2A Regional’s No. 2 contender on Tuesday, May 19, rounding out a busy schedule of regional finals.
