Kansas State University’s women’s soccer squad delivered a 3‑1 win over Hawaii on Saturday, a result achieved under a tropical storm warning that added a dramatic backdrop to the contest.
A Storm‑Soaked Showdown
The opening minutes saw Hawaii strike first, with Anuhea Aluli finding the net after a pass from Jas Cayetano in the fourth minute, but the Wildcats answered back in the 28th minute when Gabby DeMers finished a move set up by Chloe Dillbeck.
Midway through the second half, senior midfielder McKinnan Braswell extended the lead to 2‑1, and Allison Marshall added her first goal of the 2026 campaign, pushing the tally to 3‑1 and marking her seventh career point for the program.
K-State dominated possession and shot volume, out‑shooting Hawaii 16‑7 overall and 6‑3 on target, while junior keeper Maddie Sibbing made two crucial saves to preserve the lead.
Head Coach Colleen Corbin praised the team’s ability to adapt tactically in adverse weather, noting the group’s resilience and the importance of the upcoming home match against Missouri State on August 20.
The victory also marks a historic start to the season, with seven goals scored in the opening weekend – the most in the program’s 11‑year history – and a perfect August record that includes a seven‑game winning streak.
