A Schedule Built for Growth
The University of Kansas women's basketball program has officially released its non‑conference schedule for the upcoming season, a 13‑game lineup that blends exhibition play with regular‑season contests. The slate is intended to sharpen the team’s competitive edge and lay the groundwork for a potential NCAA tournament appearance, the first since the 2024 campaign.
Among the 13 matchups, two will be exhibition games, eight will be played inside the iconic Allen Fieldhouse, four will take place at neutral‑site venues, and a single game will be a true road test. This distribution reflects the coaching staff’s desire to balance home‑court familiarity with challenging environments.
Coach Brandon Schneider outlined the broader objectives, emphasizing preparation for Big 12 competition and the construction of a résumé that can withstand the rigors of March. ‘Our goal is to enter conference play with confidence and to give ourselves the best possible chance of earning an at‑large bid,’ he said.
The schedule features opponents such as Nebraska, Minnesota and South Dakota State, while neutral‑site games are slated for Sioux Falls, South Dakota; Minneapolis, Minnesota; Kansas City, Missouri; and Cancun, Mexico. Each of these venues offers a distinct atmosphere that the team hopes to leverage as it builds momentum.
Key contributors S’Mya Nichols and Jaliya Davis are expected to play pivotal roles, bringing experience and skill that the coaching staff believes will translate into strong performances across the diverse slate of games.
Looking Ahead to the Big 12 and Beyond
As the season progresses, the team will look to translate early‑season successes into sustained excellence, aiming to carry that energy into Big 12 play and, ultimately, the NCAA Tournament.
