Karlos May, a four‑star defensive lineman from Birmingham, Alabama, is one of the most coveted prospects in the 2027 class. Ranked as the No. 7 defensive lineman and No. 78 overall, May finished his senior season with 43 tackles, eight tackles for loss, four sacks and two interceptions.
Having taken official visits to each of his finalists, May has spent considerable time evaluating the programs. He is particularly attracted to Georgia because of its reputation for developing defensive linemen and the strong relationships he has built with coaches and current players.
Recruiting landscape
Auburn was the first to extend a scholarship and has hosted May on seven separate visits. Florida State entered the picture in late July 2025, also arranging three trips, while Ohio State, the last to offer, will receive May’s final official visit.
Georgia already holds pledges from three‑star linemen Waylon Wooten and Antwan McKoy, while Auburn has secured two four‑star commitments, including Donivan Moore of Bessemer. Florida State’s lone defensive‑line commit is three‑star prospect Eric Vaulx Jr., and Ohio State is still searching for its first defensive‑line recruit in the class.
May’s decision will have ripple effects across the SEC and Big Ten recruiting boards. Whichever program lands the Birmingham native will shape the next wave of defensive‑line talent, and the competition among the four schools underscores the depth of the 2027 class.
