Kason Coppick, a junior at Reed City High School, is already making waves on two fronts. While he prepares for his senior football season, the young athlete also reflects on a track campaign that placed his team among the best in Division 3.
On the track, Coppick helped the 4×100‑meter relay squad capture second place at the state finals with a school‑record time of 43.32 seconds. The performance underscored a season marked by personal‑best efforts across the 100‑meter dash, the 200‑meter sprint, and the long jump.
A Multisport Momentum
He posted a 100‑meter time of 11.03 seconds, ranking 17th statewide, and a 200‑meter best of 22.69 seconds achieved at the regional meet. In the long jump, his 21‑feet‑10.25‑inch effort earned second place regionally and 12th at the state level, a event he now cites as his favorite despite battling shin splints.
Beyond the numbers, Coppick’s consistency shone through with three‑time Academic All‑State honors and a reputation for resilience. His athletic achievements have attracted attention from Division I programs, culminating in football scholarship offers from Kent State University and Columbia University.
Looking ahead, Coppick says the upcoming football season will be his primary focus, but he remains grateful for the track experience that sharpened his speed and discipline. ‘The track season gave me a foundation that I’ll carry into the gridiron,’ he explained.
With a blend of academic excellence and athletic promise, Kason Coppick stands as one of Michigan’s most exciting dual‑sport prospects, poised to make an impact both on the field and in the classroom.
