Kassie Dixon Poised to Lead Great Falls High Girls Basketball Program

After Jerry Schmitz's resignation, the longtime assistant aims to build team bonding, emphasize toughness and integrity, and chase state titles

Great Falls High School announced this week that Kassie Dixon, a former assistant and freshman coach, has been recommended to assume the role of head coach for the girls basketball team following the resignation of longtime leader Jerry Schmitz.

Dixon brings five years of experience on Schmitz’s staff and a personal history that includes three state championships as a player under Jeff Graham in her hometown of Belt, as well as a collegiate career at Sheridan College and Division II Black Hills State, where she worked under current Gallatin High coach Taylor Cummings.

A Vision Built on Integrity

In a recent interview, Dixon said she is eager to foster team bonding and make basketball fun for her players, while acknowledging that transitioning to a new system will require patience as the current roster adjusts to her approach.

She emphasized that toughness and integrity will be the cornerstones of her program, aiming to instill a mindset of achieving state titles and building a culture that reflects those values on and off the court.
