Katherine Plouffe, a former Marquette University standout, will be honored this year as part of the inaugural class of the Alberta Basketball Hall of Fame.
Roots in Alberta
Her basketball journey began at Harry Ainlay Secondary School in Edmonton, where she captured two provincial championships and established herself as one of the province’s most promising talents.
Collegiate Excellence at Marquette
During her time with the Golden Eagles, Plouffe compiled 1,774 points and 1,087 rebounds, joining a select group of players who have surpassed both the 1,700‑point and 1,000‑rebound milestones.
In her senior season she averaged 19.4 points and 10.3 rebounds per game, earning WBCA All‑America honorable mention and multiple All‑BIG EAST First Team selections while leading Marquette in scoring, rebounding, field‑goal percentage and blocked shots.
International Impact
Representing Canada, she helped the national team to gold‑medal victories at the 2015 Pan American Games and the 2015 FIBA Americas Championship, and she competed at the 2016 Rio Olympics and the 2020 Tokyo Games.
Beyond traditional five‑on‑five competition, Plouffe was a dominant force in 3×3 basketball, capturing three FIBA 3×3 Women’s Series championships and earning recognition as one of the world’s top players in the format.
Legacy and Inspiration
Her achievements have resonated throughout Alberta and the broader Canadian basketball community, inspiring a new generation of athletes to pursue excellence on the court.
The Alberta Basketball Hall of Fame, created to celebrate those who have shaped the sport in the province, now welcomes Plouffe alongside nine other pioneers who have contributed to its rich history.
