The Kaukauna Galloping Ghosts captured their first Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Association Division 1 baseball championship since 1953, defeating Madison Memorial 11-5 at Neuroscience Group Field at Fox Cities Stadium on June 18.
A Historic Victory
Coach Mike Jenkins praised the team's unity, emphasizing that all 25 players contributed to the victory.
Starting pitcher Bennett Geitner delivered four solid innings, allowing four runs and earning the win, a performance that proved pivotal after the team had lost Paxton Schuh to injury earlier in the season.
Senior pitcher Paxton Schuh, sidelined with a torn meniscus, returned to the mound and shut down the opposition, permitting just one run and striking out the final batter to seal the title.
The Ghosts' offense was relentless, with the entire lineup clicking; Kaden Kress stood out with three hits and three RBIs, including a decisive double in the fifth inning that helped swing momentum.
Coach Jenkins described the team as "clicking on all cylinders," highlighting their blend of power, speed, and disciplined hitting.
Depth in the pitching staff also shone, as Carson Gates and Bron Schaefer had previously stepped up in earlier games, providing reliable innings that kept the team competitive throughout the tournament.
The championship marks a historic milestone for Kaukauna High School and its community, reinforcing the program's resurgence and setting a hopeful tone for future seasons.
