Rookie Sensation Leads Patriots to Victory
Freshman forward Keira Jeffries made an immediate impact for the George Mason Patriots, earning Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week honors after a commanding debut against VMI.
The Patriots opened their season with a 4-1 triumph, snapping a drought that had stretched back to 2018, and Jeffries was at the heart of the action, scoring twice in the 88th minute to seal the win.
First Collegiate Goals and Assist
Jeffries not only found the net twice but also set up teammate Kylie Beauregard with her first collegiate assist in the 84th minute, showcasing her playmaking ability early in her career.
A Strong Start on the Field
In her second appearance, against James Madison University, Jeffries logged 65 minutes, maintaining an aggressive attacking presence and contributing four shots, three of which were on target.
Historic Weekly Honor
The performance marked the first time a Mason women's soccer player has received Atlantic 10 weekly recognition since the 2022 season, underscoring the significance of Jeffries' breakthrough.
Hailing from Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, Jeffries brings local pride to her collegiate endeavors, while the team prepares for upcoming challenges in Fairfax, Virginia, where they will face James Madison again.
