Kellen Brewer, a 6‑foot‑7 forward who dominated the Louisiana high school scene, announced his commitment to the University of California, Santa Barbara, where he will join the Gauchos under head coach Joe Pasternack.
A New Chapter for a Louisiana Star
During his senior season at Country Day, Brewer posted averages of 20.1 points, 6.5 rebounds and 1.9 blocks per game, guiding the Cajuns to back‑to‑back state titles and earning Class 2A Player of the Year honors. He previously helped the team capture a championship in 2025 and was a two‑time All‑State selection.
Pasternack, a Metairie native and former Country Day graduate, returns to the program as head coach, expressing excitement about mentoring Brewer and shaping his collegiate trajectory. He noted that the player's elite skills and academic promise align perfectly with the Gauchos' vision.
The Gauchos also attracted interest from Ohio and Saint Mary’s, but Brewer's choice reflects a desire to develop under Pasternack's system and compete in the West Coast Conference. His commitment adds a dynamic talent to a roster poised for a strong season.
