Kelley Steadman, the Lightning’s Girls Hockey Development Coordinator, will be honored by USA Hockey at its annual President’s Awards Dinner on June 5 in Denver, Colorado.
A Milestone for Women’s Hockey
Steadman’s career spans both playing and administrative excellence. As a player she captured two Olympic gold medals with Team USA in 2011 and 2013, and she led the Carolina Lady Hurricanes to three consecutive Adult Women’s National Championships in the 21+ Tier I division, compiling an 11‑5‑0 record in the process.
Her leadership extended beyond the ice. Since joining the Lightning organization she has expanded girls’ hockey opportunities throughout the Tampa Bay region, creating pathways for young athletes that previously did not exist.
Building the Next Generation
Under the Jr. Lightning brand, the organization has been approved to field Tier I (AAA) boys teams and Tier II (AA) girls teams beginning in the 2026‑27 season, a move that underscores USA Hockey’s confidence in Steadman’s vision for inclusive growth.
The honor reflects not only her personal achievements but also the broader impact she has had on the sport’s development in the United States, positioning her as a pivotal figure in the ongoing evolution of women’s hockey.
