Kelsey Hardy Takes the Helm of Mascoma High Girls Basketball

A former Lebanon High standout returns to lead the girls' program, bringing decades of coaching mentorship and a focus on resilience.

A New Era for Mascoma Girls Basketball

Kelsey Hardy, a 2024 graduate of Lebanon High School, has been appointed head coach of the Mascoma High girls basketball team, taking over a program that has seen modest progress in recent seasons.

Her coaching résumé includes junior varsity stints in basketball and soccer at her alma mater, where she learned under two of the region’s most respected mentors, Tim Kehoe and Shannon Gould.

She replaces Mark Rockwood, who guided the team to a single win in his opening campaign and managed seven victories before the 2025 playoffs ended, paving the way for a fresh direction.

Stephen Stebbins, the school’s athletic director, highlighted Hardy’s blend of interpersonal skill and basketball acumen as a key factor in the hiring decision.

Hardy, who continues to play in a local men’s basketball league while coaching, says her philosophy centers on hard work, dedication and the development of each player both on and off the court.

Building a Culture of Resilience

Drawing on the legacy of five state championships amassed by Kehoe over 29 seasons, Hardy aims to instill a work ethic that mirrors that standard, emphasizing resilience in the face of setbacks.

The new coach also hopes to leverage the experience of longtime soccer mentor Gould, whose three‑decade career in girls’ soccer has shaped her approach to team dynamics and player growth.
