Kenaz Sullivan, a 6-foot-1, 190-pound safety from The St. James Academy in Springfield, Virginia, announced that he has placed Tennessee among his top four schools for the 2027 football signing class. The other programs on his shortlist are Ohio State, Florida and Maryland, each of which brings a storied tradition and national exposure to the conversation.
Recruiting Landscape
Ranked as the No. 22 safety nationally and the fourth-best prospect in Virginia by 247Sports, Sullivan has attracted attention from a wide array of Power Four programs. On3’s proprietary rankings also place him within the top tier of his position group, underscoring the competitive nature of his recruitment.
The Volunteers extended a scholarship offer to Sullivan on February 12, 2025, a date that marks Tennessee’s earliest formal contact with the prospect. West Virginia was the first school to reach out, doing so on December 23, 2024. Since then, a dozen additional Power Four schools — including Virginia, Indiana, Wake Forest, Wisconsin, Syracuse, Florida State, Illinois, Rutgers, Miami, Georgia Tech, Duke, Alabama, Ole Miss, Georgia, North Carolina, Michigan State, South Carolina, Missouri, Colorado, Notre Dame, USC, Michigan and Penn State — have also entered the fray with scholarship offers.
Sullivan is set to take an official visit to Tennessee this Friday, a trip that will provide him with an in-depth look at the program’s facilities, coaching staff and campus culture. The visit comes as the Volunteers continue to build momentum in their 2027 recruiting class, which currently holds eight verbal commitments.
