Honors Court Highlights Academic Excellence
The National Association of Basketball Coaches recently announced its honors court for the 2025‑26 season, a distinction that celebrates collegiate athletes who have excelled both on the hardwood and in the classroom.
Eligibility for the court requires players to be juniors, seniors or graduate students and to maintain a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.2 throughout the academic year. This standard underscores the association’s commitment to fostering well‑rounded student‑athletes.
Among those recognized are Brenden Moss and Rob Whaley Jr. of the Kent State Golden Flashes. Moss, a junior forward, has been a steady presence in the lineup, while Whaley Jr., a senior guard, brings veteran leadership and playmaking ability.
The Golden Flashes also earned an academic excellence award from the NABC, acknowledging the team’s collective achievement of a 3.0 GPA or higher for the entire squad. The honor reflects the program’s emphasis on scholarly achievement alongside athletic competition.
Coaches and administrators at Kent State view the recognitions as a testament to the university’s holistic approach to player development. By rewarding both performance and scholarship, the institution aims to prepare its athletes for success beyond the basketball arena.
