A Recruiting Battle in the Making
Kentucky’s basketball program is making a concerted effort to add a 5‑star center to its 2027 class, targeting Paul Osaruyi, a 6‑foot‑10 prospect who ranks among the nation’s elite.
Osaruyi, currently listed as the No. 12 overall recruit by 247 Sports and the second‑best center nationally, holds 25 scholarship offers, including those from Kentucky, West Virginia, Arkansas, BYU and Cincinnati. His size, skill set and Arizona roots have drawn attention from several power programs.
Coach Mark Pope’s staff sees the recruit as a cornerstone for a class that already features 5‑star small forward Ryan Hampton, who has already pledged to the Wildcats. The competition is fierce, with analysts noting that Kentucky is emerging as a serious contender despite being a newer player in the race.
The pursuit of Osaruyi reflects a broader strategy to assemble a highly ranked recruiting cohort, a goal that aligns with the program’s ambition to climb the national rankings in the coming years.
