Violent Outburst on the Diamond

A 48‑year‑old man from Symsonia, Kentucky, was arrested after allegedly assaulting a youth baseball umpire during a game at the Lone Oak baseball and softball complex.

Investigators say the suspect grew angry over the umpire’s calls, seized the official and placed him in a chokehold that left the victim with a chipped tooth and bruising that turned his skin purple.

After the attack, the suspect fled the scene but turned himself in the next morning to the McCracken County Sheriff’s Office, where he was taken into custody.

He now faces a slate of charges including assault of a sports official, strangulation, menacing and terroristic threatening, and was released after posting a $5,000 bond.
