Eagles' explosive offense fuels sweep
The Keota Eagle baseball team delivered a commanding doubleheader victory over Iowa Valley, outscoring their opponents 40‑18 across two games and improving to 10‑7 on the season.
After falling behind 2‑6 in the opening contest, the Eagles rallied to post a 17‑5 win, with Bryce Horras driving in six runs on four hits and scoring twice, while Blake Baker added three RBI and two runs.
Jackson Vittetoe and Keegan Clarke each contributed two RBI and five total runs, helping the lineup spread the offense across nine different hitters who all recorded at least one hit, one run and one RBI.
Baker earned the win on the mound, tossing four and two‑thirds innings with six strikeouts and allowing only two earned runs.
The second game saw Iowa Valley jump out to a nine‑run first inning, but Keota answered with five runs in each of the first three frames and added eight more in the fourth to secure a 23‑13 victory.
Chase Haifley earned the pitching win, working three and two‑thirds innings and striking out three while the offense was bolstered by Baker’s four RBI, three runs and a perfect hitting streak.
Additional contributors such as Ayden Galindo, Aidan Greiner and Bryar Slockett each added key hits and runs, underscoring the depth of the Eagle roster.
With the sweep, Keota moves to 10‑7 while Iowa Valley falls to 9‑9, setting the stage for a competitive stretch ahead.
