The Augusta Sports Hall of Fame welcomed former Augusta University guard Keshun Sherrill this week, honoring a career that reshaped the program’s record books.
Sherrill, a 5‑foot‑9 point guard, finished his collegiate tenure with 2,333 points, the most ever recorded by a player in both Augusta and the Peach Belt Conference, a milestone that led the university to retire his jersey.
His accolades include being named Male Athlete of the Year in 2017, earning All‑America honors from the National Association of Basketball Coaches and the Division II Conference Commissioners Association, and representing the Southeast Region in the 2017 Reese’s Division II College All‑Star Game.
A Legacy That Extends Beyond the Court
Coached by Mike Gurley at West Rowan High School, Sherrill graduated in 2012 after a high school career that saw him named Male Athlete of the Year for the 2011‑12 season, earn all‑county honors four times and all‑conference three times, and follow in the footsteps of brothers KJ Sherrill and Jamel Carpenter, also standout Falcons.
Beyond college, Sherrill pursued a professional path abroad, competing in leagues across Europe and most recently finishing a season in Turkey earlier this year, underscoring his enduring impact on the game.
The induction also highlighted the Sherrill family’s deep roots in Georgia basketball, with father Keith and mother Rhonda watching proudly as their son’s number joined the rafters, while his brothers continue to inspire the next generation.
