Kevin Thomas, a 6‑7 wing who was once bound to LSU, has officially pledged to the University of North Carolina for the 2026‑27 season, marking the fourth addition to the Tar Heels’ incoming class.
The prospect is ranked No. 79 overall by 247Sports and No. 94 by Rivals, underscoring his status as a highly touted recruit in the 2026 class.
High School Legacy and National Exposure
Thomas arrives after a stellar high school career at Weston (Fla.) Sagemont Prep, where he helped the program capture three consecutive Florida Class 1A state titles and compiled averages of 15.5 points, 4.2 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 2.0 steals per game as a senior.
His performances earned him invitations to multiple USA Basketball showcases, culminating in a appearance at the U18 National Training Camp where he measured 6‑foot‑6 without shoes, 190 pounds, and a 6‑9.75 wingspan in an April 2025 minicamp.
Recruitment Journey
Originally committing to LSU in October, Thomas chose the Tigers over finalists Auburn, Florida State and Miami before flipping his decision to UNC, a move that reflects both the appeal of the Tar Heels’ program and the influence of new relationships on campus.
