The University of Alaska Fairbanks announced today that Khamryn Hopkins, a 5‑5 guard from Plano, Texas, has signed with the Alaska Nanooks women's basketball program. Hopkins brings a blend of speed, playmaking and offensive firepower that head coach Michael Ricks believes will immediately elevate the team's competitiveness.
A Scoring Threat With Proven Success
During her two seasons at Lincoln Trail College, Hopkins posted a career‑average of 15.9 points per game, highlighted by a season‑high 36‑point outing against Lewis & Clark Community College. She recorded 22 double‑digit performances, including six games with 20 or more points and two 30‑point explosions, underscoring her ability to dominate games.
Her statistical growth was matched by recognition from the GRAC, where she earned All‑Conference honors, and Region 24, which named her to the All‑Region team after her sophomore year. Those accolades reflect not only her scoring but also her all‑around contributions of rebounds, assists and steals.
Coach Ricks praised Hopkins as a dynamic guard and proven scorer, emphasizing her quickness, court vision and the offensive spark she can provide. "She brings a level of energy and skill that aligns perfectly with our vision for the program," he said in the announcement.
Hopkins expressed gratitude to God, her family, coaches and teammates, stating that she is eager to contribute to the Nanooks' success and help the team achieve its goals. She also hinted that more signings will be revealed next week, promising further additions to the roster.
