A New Chapter for the Bluejays
Kiani Lockett has been named a graduate assistant for the Creighton Women's Basketball team for the 2026‑27 season, marking a full‑circle moment for the former Bluejay who once wore the jersey with pride.
Lockett's playing days spanned four years at Creighton, during which she appeared in 82 games and started 34 contests. A knee injury in November 2025 brought her on‑court career to an early close, but it also opened a new pathway within the program she loves.
Beyond basketball, Lockett has earned a bachelor's degree in Psychology and is now pursuing a master's in Integrative Health and Wellness, a combination she says will help her connect with student‑athletes both on and off the court.
Her impact will be felt especially by the incoming freshman class, including Ava Zediker and Neleigh Gessert, whom she previously mentored. Lockett expressed excitement about continuing her journey with the program and contributing to its growth.
Coach Jim Flannery praised Lockett's influence, noting that her presence will enrich the team culture and strengthen recruitment efforts. He highlighted her ability to bridge the gap between current players and prospective talent.
