Kim St‑Pierre, the three‑time Olympic gold medallist and Hockey Hall of Fame inductee, is set to receive an honorary doctorate from the University of Ottawa during its spring convocation.
She will join eight other Canadians and international leaders who have been selected for the 2026 honorary degree cohort, a list that reflects excellence across academia, arts, and public service.
From Campus Star to National Icon
St‑Pierre’s journey began at McGill University, where she earned a Bachelor of Education in kinesiology in 2005 and helped elevate the Martlets women’s hockey program to national prominence.
During her collegiate career she posted a 50‑40‑12 record, recorded 27 shutouts and posted a 2.13 goals‑against average over 103 games, earning the Brodrick Trophy as university women’s hockey player of the year in 2002‑03.
Her Olympic résumé includes gold medals in Salt Lake City (2002), Turin (2006) and Vancouver (2010), complemented by five IIHF world championships with Canada’s national women’s team.
In 2020 she made history as the first female goaltender inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame, a milestone that underscored her pioneering role in the sport.
Beyond competition, St‑Pierre now serves as director of business operations for the Professional Women’s Hockey League’s Montreal Victoire, where she leverages her experience to grow the league’s infrastructure and outreach.
