King City High School’s baseball program gathered on May 29 for its annual awards banquet, a night that blended celebration with reflection on a standout season. The event brought together players, coaches, families, and community members to recognize the team’s accomplishments on and off the field.
Celebrating a Co‑Championship Season
The Mustangs finished the year as co‑champions of the Pacific Coast Athletic League’s Cypress Division, a testament to the depth of talent across both the senior class and the underclassmen. Their success was built on strong pitching, timely hitting, and a relentless work ethic that defined the campaign.
Among the individual honorees, sophomore Jacoby Chavez earned Offensive Player of the Year after a first‑team All‑League selection, while senior Joel Pina captured the Coaches Award and was recognized as the Cypress Pitcher of the Year. Senior Joaquin Sabala also received pitcher honors on the first team, and senior Dylan Conatser was named Most Valuable Player for the program, earning a second‑team All‑League nod.
Recognition of Leadership and Sportsmanship
Freshman RJ Ayon contributed to the team’s future with a second‑team All‑League placement and the Rookie of the Year award, while senior Axel Chavez‑Torres was honored with the Richard Chamberlin All‑Sportmanship Award, highlighting the program’s commitment to character as well as competition.
Coach staff expressed gratitude to the players, their families, and the broader community for the unwavering support that made the season possible, and they look forward to building on this momentum in the years ahead.
