Kinziger Brothers Launch Second Annual Youth Basketball Camp in De Pere

Illinois State and Wisconsin-Madison standouts team up with family to teach fundamentals and community spirit

A Family Affair on the Court

The Kinziger brothers, Johnny and Zach, are set to lead their second annual youth boys' basketball camp on August 15 at De Pere High School. The event, which has grown steadily since its inception, brings together young athletes from across the region for a week of instruction, competition, and community engagement.

Campers will be divided into three sessions based on grade level. Third and fourth graders meet from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m., fifth and sixth graders from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., and seventh and eighth graders from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Each session emphasizes core fundamentals while keeping the atmosphere lively and encouraging.

Both brothers will be on site throughout the day, joined by their father Jeff and older brother Jake. Their presence underscores a family commitment to giving back to the De Pere community that helped shape their own careers.

Johnny, a senior on the Illinois State University men’s basketball team, and Zach, a sophomore at the University of Wisconsin‑Madison, bring collegiate experience and a deep appreciation for coaching. They credit the guidance they received during De Pere’s historic 2022‑23 state championship season as a pivotal influence on their approach to the game.

The camp’s curriculum blends skill drills with competitive games, aiming to reinforce the fundamentals that the brothers consider the foundation of success at any level. Their positive experiences with mentors have motivated them to replicate that supportive environment for the next generation of players.

Sign‑ups are available through Instagram and Facebook, with registration links posted on the De Pere Redbird Basketball page. Early enrollment is encouraged, as the organizers anticipate strong participation and limited spots per session.

Beyond basketball, Johnny is pursuing a finance degree at Illinois State and plans to leverage the new NCAA eligibility rule to play a fifth season. Zach, studying business at Wisconsin‑Madison, chose not to redshirt his freshman year, a decision that reflects his desire to progress steadily toward his academic and athletic goals.
