Kira Mowen has stepped into the role of head coach for the North Park University women's basketball program, bringing a proven track record of competitive success and player development.
During her three‑year tenure at Millersville University, Mowen guided the team to the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference playoffs in each season, cultivating a winning culture that resonated with student‑athletes and laid a strong foundation for future growth.
At Knox College, her squads captured the Midwest Conference championship and earned a berth in the NCAA Division III tournament, a testament to her ability to blend strategic acumen with player growth.
More recently, Mowen served as associate head coach and director of recruiting at Monmouth University, where the program achieved its best MAAC finish in school history, and earlier she contributed to the University of Wisconsin‑Milwaukee as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator.
A former player at the University of Illinois and Youngstown State, she holds a master of education from Texas State, underscoring a commitment to both scholarly and athletic excellence.
A New Era for North Park Basketball
Now at North Park, Mowen says she wants to build a program that competes strongly in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin while maintaining the university's academic standards, fostering an environment where athletes excel on the court and in the classroom.
