Kirk Cousins stepped back onto the familiar fields of Holland Christian Schools in June, reviving a youth football camp that has become a rite of passage for many local students.
Now in his fifteenth NFL season and entering his first year with the Las Vegas Raiders, Cousins framed the camp as more than a series of drills; it is a chance to pass on the values that have guided him from high school to the professional ranks.
Camp Focuses on More Than Football
The program, designed for fourth‑ through sixth‑graders, blends on‑field instruction with workshops on leadership, character, and faith. Over two days, participants receive hands‑on coaching while learning the importance of integrity and teamwork.
Cousins, who previously ran similar camps for seven or eight years early in his career, emphasized that the lessons he learned at Holland Christian continue to shape his work ethic and approach to the game.
As he prepares for the upcoming NFL season, Cousins said his primary focus is on readiness and savoring the journey with his teammates, a mindset he hopes to instill in the youngsters who look up to him.
